Any genre styles are welcome. We would love to hear your unique perspectives and look forward to reading the pieces you want to share with the students and teachers at Central Magnet.
Be sure that your piece argues or informs your audience about a situation or idea.
Carefully select strong language while considering its connotation, purpose, and effect on the reader.
As a new feature this year, we are accepting submissions written in foreign languages (mainly Spanish, French, and German). All the same guidelines apply to these submissions. If you have any questions, please let us know.
General Advice:
Present a unique concept or viewpoint on a topic in which you have passion. This is an opportunity to share your thoughts with your students. What do you want to tell them?
Thoughtfully consider your audience when thinking of a topic: literary magazine editors, Central Magnet students, other teachers, etc. Keep in mind that many different grade levels will be reading your writing and that they should all be able to effectively interpret your message.
Bring your expertise and experience to each piece! As teachers, you are the most qualified people at Central to speak on your respective subjects, and you have plenty of experiences that your students might not have.
Develop a tone and mood that supports what you are saying throughout the piece.
