Any genre styles are welcome including (but not limited to): short stories, memoirs, persuasive essays, poems, plays, etc. However, it is preferred that no in-class essays (book reports, social studies frq's, etc.) are submitted.
Make sure your piece is special and valuable to you.
Please avoid any expletives used in the piece.
General Advice:
Present a unique concept or viewpoint on a topic in which you have passion.
Thoughtfully consider your audience when thinking of a topic: literary magazine editors, Central Magnet students, teachers, etc.
Be creative with sentence structure.
Do not exhaust the topic at hand.
Develop a tone and mood that supports what you are saying throughout the piece.
Most importantly, have fun writing this piece! Invest yourself in your piece, and express yourself through it!
